Every Sacred Sewing Room will be “blessed with a song” performed by a local musician. Midwestern “blues diva” Kim Massie performed the St. Louis song blessing. Kim is known for her soulful blues and gospel voice, but she can really belt it out for any genre. She has been awarded Best Vocalist of the Year twice by the Riverfront Times and has shared the stage with many musical legends.
At the Women’s Safe House, Kim first sang Harold Arlen’s/E.Y. Harburg’s “Over the Rainbow”. It wasn’t long after the crowd dried their eyes that Kim was begged to sing another song. She chose John Newton’s popular hymn, “Amazing Grace”, and the room was silent. Kim stayed a bit, visited with the women at the Safe House, and offered to donate fabric from her own personal stash to the St. Louis room.
Thank you to Kim Massie and her team for supporting the Sacred Sewing Room at the Women’s Safe House in St. Louis. You can learn more about Kim Massie and her music here.
