Made with Love—That’s the theme in the new Sacred Sewing Room at Greenhouse 17 in Lexington, Kentucky. Knowing and understanding what “made with love” really means—the feeling of nostalgia that the phrase often carries—that’s something Enchanted Makeovers wanted to pass on to the residents of Greenhouse 17.
This Sacred Sewing Room was filled with wonderful notions, fabrics and four Baby Lock Rachel sewing machines. Muralist, Anita Roll, painted a wonderful countryside around the entire room. On a hill sits a beautiful cottage complete with curtains and a clothesline swinging in the breeze.
Local singer, Jessie Laine Powel, was truly amazing. She had the entire room engaged, singing along with her to “I Haven’t Got Time for the Pain” by Carly Simon. The entire room claimed it that day: no more pain!
The reactions from the women and children entering the Sacred Sewing Room for the first time were priceless. “Oh my gosh!” and “Wow!” they would exclaim as tears of joy ran down their cheeks. One staff member even shared, “For years I’ve been praying for a sewing room. Now it’s finally real!”
As everyone entered the room, they were mesmerized by the detail in the mural, the beautiful fabric, and the brand new Baby Lock machines. It was an emotional day for everyone involved. See more photos and Lexington media coverage here.
